Applying to EMU

Applying to Eastern Michigan University is easy -- you can even apply online.  If you prefer, you can contact the University's Admissions Office to request an application.  Simply submit your application, a modest application fee, and your high school or college transcripts.  First-time college students must also submit college entrance examination scores.  Transfer students and Second Bachelor's Degree students must apply for admission to the University using the undergraduate application form

If you are thinking about transferring to EMU from another college or university, there are lots of links below that you will find helpful.  EMU is a signatory to the MACRAO Agreement.  In simple terms, think of the MACRAO as an agreement between Michigan two-year colleges and Michigan four-year colleges and universities regarding transfer of certain basic or general education credits.  If you have attended a MACRAO school and you have earned satisfactory grades in these basic studies classes, the MACRAO assures you that most, if not all, of these credits will transfer to EMU.

EMU is conveniently located in Washtenaw County, close to I-94 and to US 23.  Detroit is about 45 minutes east; Lansing is around an hour northwest.  Here are directions to the campus.  Take a look at EMU's campus on this virtual tour.

Applying to the Program

The Legal Assistant Studies Program does not, at this time, have any admission requirements in addition to the University's admission requirements.  In other words, and student who is admitted to the University as a degree candidate can major in Legal Assistant Studies.

You do not need to be a Legal Assistant Studies major to take Program Courses.  Lots of students simply want to learn about the law.  Perhaps you feel that some of our classes could help you in your present job.  Or you would just like to know more about litigation, or cyberspace law, or real estate law, family law, criminal procedure, legal research and writing, or any of the many subjects included in our curriculum.  Every semester we enroll students who simply want to learn about the law, but who do not want to pursue a Legal Assistant Studies degree.  We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions about our classes, or if you would like to sign up.
