Short Bio:

Dr. Harbour has been a Michigan personal injury trial attorney for over 25 years and is a former journalist. Prior to joining EMU, she worked at the law firm of Butzel Long in Detroit as a Professional Development Director. She was a partner in charge of the asbestos personal injury docket at the Southfield law firm of Martens, Ice, Israel, for 18 years, where she hired and trained paralegals. Dr. Harbour has also conducted legal writing seminars and advocacy coaching for lawyers and law firms. Prior to entering the practice of law, Dr. Harbour was a newspaper reporter in Cleveland, Ohio; Alexandria, Va.; and Goshen, N.Y. She joined EMU as a full-time lecturer in the paralegal program in 2004. She has a BA degree (magna cum laude) in Journalism from the University of Detroit and her Juris Doctor from The John Marshall College of Law, The Cleveland StateUniversity.


Areas of Expertise:

Legal, writing, courtroom and trial skills, the practice of trial law from the perspective of both the attorney and paralegal and personal injury law.
