Second Bachelor's Degree
Program
Eastern Michigan University's Second Bachelor's
Degree Program is an option for students who already
have a four-year college degree from an accredited
institution. As a general rule, Second Bachelor's
Degree candidates are not required to complete any
University
Basic Studies classes. Students interested
in pursuing a Second Bachelor's Degree must be admitted
to the University as a Second Bachelor's Degree
candidate.
To receive a Second Bachelor's Degree with a Legal
Assistant Studies major, students must complete a
minimum of 50 semester hours, including legal
classes (minimum of 33 semester hours), technology core classes (11 semester hours) as restricted
electives (BMMT (BEDU) 123[2 hrs]; BMMT (BEDU)224; BMMT (BEDU) 496 (Note: pre-req of BMMT 396) and ACC 240. Legal
classes (those having an "LEGL" prefix)
are offered on a standard
Fall-Winter schedule. We have created a sample
course schedule plan for Undergraduates (Full
time and Part
time), and one for 2nd Bachelors students (Full
time and Part Time).
Evening and weekend classes are available to meet
the needs of working students. The Program typically
offers upper-level legal classes during the Spring
and Summer terms.
Second
Bachelor's Degree candidates may be awarded
Program credit for appropriate academic work done
at the University or at another college or university.
The decision to award such credit will be made on
a case-by-case basis. However, a minimum of
24 semester hours of Program Classes, including
at least 15 semester hours of legal classes, must
be completed at Eastern Michigan University.
For more information about transfer credit, consult
the Program
Policies.
*BEDU 123, Word Processing/Keyboarding
Applications (2 sem. hrs.) is a prerequisite to LEGL
304, Legal Writing, Research, and Analysis I.
