About the Undergraduate Program
The Legal Assistant Studies Undergraduate Degree
Program has two components: Basic Studies Classes
and Program Classes. All Program undergraduates
must complete both components, and must accumulate
at least 124 semester hours of credit, to receive
a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Legal
Assistant Studies.
Eastern Michigan University's Basic
Studies curriculum is designed to provide
students with a rich liberal arts background.
The curriculum includes courses in English composition
and communications, mathematics, technology,
physical sciences, social sciences, and the humanities.
A wide variety of classes are available from which
to choose. Program undergraduates must complete
a minimum of 50 semester hours of Basic Studies
courses.
Program
Classes consist of a minimum of 59 semester hours
of classes covering three categories: legal classes
(minimum of 33 semester hours), restricted electives
(minimum of 15 semester hours), and technology and
administration classes (minimum of 11 semester hours).
Legal classes (those having an "LEGL" prefix)
are offered on a standard
Fall-Winter schedule. We have created a sample
course schedule plan for Undergraduates (Full
time and Part
time), and one for 2nd Bachelors students (Full
time and Part Time).
The Program typically offers upper-level legal classes
during the Spring and Summer terms.
Undergraduate transfer students may be awarded
transfer credit for Program Classes on a case-by-case
basis. However, a minimum of 24 semester
hours of Program Classes, including at least 15
semester hours of legal classes (those having an
LEGL prefix), must be completed
at Eastern Michigan University. For more
information about transfer credit, consult the
Program
Policies.
