Jobs & Internships

There are countless Web sites that provide employment information.  Unfortunately, very few are devoted especially to legal assisting jobs.  The best way to get the inside scoop on available jobs, and to land the job you really want, is by networking.  Ask your legal assisting professors; visit with friends in the business and co-workers; and contact your local county bar association (many run formal or ad hoc job banks).  Keep your ear to the ground at the courthouse to find out who may be looking for a legal assistant.  The links here list jobs, but keep in mind that anyone with a computer and access to the Web can find out about these openings, too.

• Association of Legal Administrators Job Bank -- a job resource for legal administrators, managers, and others, including legal assistants.
  
• Best Jobs USA -- an online classified ad site that contains a category for "Professional" where you may find some legal assistant job listings.
  
• Contract Counsel -- a legal placement firm that places legal professionals in temporary and permanent positions.
  
• Findlaw -- this link takes you directly to the legal employment page of this mega legal directory.
  
• Job Links for Lawyers -- if none of the other links on this Page help you find what you are looking for, check out this site. And don't be fooled by the name.  While lots of the links you'll find are specifically for lawyers, most are not.  This site is HUGE; if you can't find what you're looking for here, it probably doesn't exist.
  
• Law.Com Career Center -- an online classified ad site that allows legal support professionals, including legal assistants, to search for jobs.
  
• Lawyers Weekly Classifieds -- recruiting ads from the various state Lawyers Weekly news journals.
  
• Legal Assistant Management Association Job Bank --  a searchable job bank for legal assistants and legal assistant managers.
• Michigan Courts -- job opportunities with the Michigan courts.
  
• Nation Job Legal Jobs Page -- a pretty good site that lists legal jobs, including legal assisting jobs, by state and region.
  
• National Association of Legal Assistants Career Net -- a fee-based service that matches employers with job seekers.
  
• National Federation of Paralegal Associations Career Center -- includes a searchable jobs database, a listing of recruiters, and a referral service.
  
• Paralegal Classifieds -- a subscription site that purports to list hundreds of current legal assistant job classifieds.
